It’s already my second favorite drive of all time I actually like the Fet Driver a lot. I’m guessing stinkfoot is right.

I tried the regular Fet Driver and it was still amazing though. WienerDog fwt, Nov 3, JCMironman28sanfi4u and 1 other person like this. I tried the standard MXR FET Driver side by side with the Joe Bonamassa Signature version the original black one and there is a definite difference between the two when all the knobs are set the same.

The EQ is the same on both version. Does this mean they both have active EQ?

I tried them side by side. Haven’t tried the ole’ Dover Drive yet.

It’s perfectly normal to set the treble at zero, for instance and boost the bass only to about 9 o’clock. I’m going to order a regular FET Driver soon, as I really love the tone, but maybe the sig model is better? IDK about the circuit or tone differences, or if they are truly different at all in their tone-producing circuitry, but I found the original black JB way too bass heavy, fuzzy, and the bass control was super touchy- either too much or too little, never had a sweet spot.


Cool, I called Dunlop and they told me it is exactly the same, this was done as a marketing thing Although in guitar center they have listed it does Your name or email address: It’s not the cheapest overdrive on the shelf, but Bonamassa and MXR got this one right, with a great range of sounds and a natural-sounding overdrive that suits both clean and dirty amps.
